This review is overdue. I started with Oly Credit Union around 11 years ago. Even though I no longer live in the area, I've stayed with them because they've maintained great customer service. When I call, they kindly answer and are helpful. I could move to a credit union closer to home, but why? Their app/portal is great, and if I have other needs I can simply call and speak with someone who will help which is quite rare these days. Thank you, Olympia Credit Union!

I made a double payment on a bill and overdrafted my account. It was an honest mistake and I've been with Oly Credit Union for over a decade. I went down to the Olympia branch to talk to someone about it. She took me into her office and took one of the 3 overdraft fees off, which I was very grateful for. I told her that I could take a cash advance from a credit card to cover my account, but she told me that she would try to get me a $300 overdraft loan. Since my credit is good and I have a decent income, it seems easy peasy right? It was Friday so I told her I would come back in on Monday morning to see what was happening and get my account straight. She insisted that I not bother to come in and that she would call me on Monday morning. Fast forward to Monday at 11am and no phone call. I called to see what the progress was and she was the one who answered. She seemed rushed and assured me that she would call me back. By the time I got off work, she still hadn't called and by that time it was too late for me to go to a cash machine and get the money deposited. Another bill came through as I had feared and I had another overdraft fee. She finally called me back on Tuesday afternoon and informed me that they couldn't give me a loan. This isn't what upsets me the most, but it's how she responded when I told her I wished she called me the day before like she said she would. She said that they were short staffed and she was too busy. She told me that I had more bills than income. I do just fine, but how humiliating over a couple hundred dollars. What's unbelievable is that a credit union that is supposed to be more personal than a bank will charge you infinite overdraft fees but not give you a tiny loan to avoid them. So disappointing!

Thankful to OCU for helping me through my first auto loan--Melissa Tong was a pleasure to work with, and she made the process easy and stress free. Great customer service, you can tell they genuinely care and want to help answer your questions. Highly recommend!

I've been a member of OCU since 2008, and the service has been consistently outstanding! It is so refreshing to walk into a branch where the tellers always seem happy and they know you by name. I'm the type of person who is typically on-the-go, and the few times when I've had any financial requests, I've been able to work with Carrie at the Olympia branch and she never ceases to impress me with her amazing and speedy service. With my busy schedule, I appreciate the fact that she has always been able to work with me over email and I always feel like she understands what I need and is able to deliver with turnaround times that can't be beat. The last time I needed a loan, she was able to approve me in less than 20 minutes, and the paperwork was ready to sign just as soon as I could drive over there. I would highly recommend Olympia Credit Union to anyone who believes in banking local and appreciates personal service!
