This is for the Blackhawk credit union on court st. The manager did a excellent job on helping me get my account right she went above and beyond and I appreciate that. We definitely need more people like her. She showed respect and genuine kindness. Thank you so much. She deserve a raise!!!!

I’ve been with Blackhawk Credit Union through different stages of life, and unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. When I was younger, it often felt like they didn’t take me seriously or make any real effort to help — like they assumed I wasn’t worth the time. Now that I’m older, not much has changed, except they’re quicker to hit you with fees the moment something goes wrong. Their system doesn’t provide helpful reminders or make payments easy to manage, and if you’re ever late, you’re met with aggressive fees and no grace or flexibility. The app is one of the worst I’ve used — clunky, outdated, and frustrating to navigate — and the website isn’t much better. Customer service is slow, unhelpful, and often dismissive. There are far better institutions out there that actually want to help their members succeed. I wouldn’t recommend Blackhawk to anyone — especially if you value transparency, support, or a user-friendly experience.

Through a few weeks of unreturned phonecalls by another branch and other companies less than enthusiastic about helping my wife and I roll over our 401k, we were able to be directed to Beth (Milwaukee street). She has been the single most helpful person I've dealt with in regards to banking. She is prompt, to the point, and very friendly. When we finally met in person she treated me with a big smile and made me feel very welcome. I'm very grateful she is our rep and hope to continue to work with her for many years. If you see this, thank you again Beth!

First off, I want to say I have no ill will toward the teller. She was polite, courteous, and was just doing her job. If it seemed like I was being rude when I left because I got quiet, I was just tired and felt defeated, like I had just spent the morning mentally going 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. And I also work in customer service, so I understand. I stopped into the Janesville Milwaukee Street branch today with a simple request. You see, my nephew is turning two. I’m an uncle who likes to give unique gifts (got him a drum set last year and this year a karaoke machine because he is super hyper and I enjoy being that uncle), and I thought it would be unique to give him a $2 bill for his birthday. I’m planning on doing this moving forward: a $5 bill when he’s five, a $10 bill when he turns ten, a $20 bill when he turns twenty, and hopefully even a $50 bill if I’m still around. After visiting five other places, starting with my own financial institution with no luck I was excited when the teller here said they had a $2 bill in stock. For a moment, it felt like I won the most underwhelming Powerball prize ever issued. You see, this is not just a request anymore, it’s turned into a quest Lord of the Rings style. I have now been trying to get a $2 bill for three days. Today I really dug my heels in and tried various financial institutions. I spent a good part of the morning feeling like a leprechaun chasing a pot of gold while listening to his favorite Spotify playlist. So here’s what happened. I was so excited to learn they did indeed have the mythical $2 bill. I felt like the characters in Jurassic Park when they first saw the Brontosaurus. I just stood there in awe. I grabbed my wallet, went for my cash, and when I offered $2 to exchange, I was told they couldn’t give it to me because I don’t have an account. I mean, I know rules are rules, but it was a $2 bill. I wasn’t asking for the combination to the vault. Once again, I want to be clear: I’m not mad at the teller, and I understand she was following policy and that credit unions have rules about serving members only. Still, it felt like a missed opportunity to build goodwill in the community. I was just looking for a $2 bill, not a small business loan for renting out human hamster balls as an eco-friendly solution to taxis. I’d encourage Blackhawk Credit Union to consider exceptions for small requests like this in the future. You see, when it comes to something as small as $2, helping me or others in a similar position leaves people with a positive impression. Instead, I walked away leaving my $2 bill in the credit union like Tom Hanks had to do in the end scene from Cast Away. Wilson!!!!

They gave me a chance when the bank I had been banking with wouldn’t give me a small loan with a good credit score. Always helpful, and very quick to respond to questions and problems. They are definitely for the members as a credit union should be. Interest rates are very reasonable too, even if you don’t have a very high credit score.
